LIFESTYLE // x CBC // Whats Your Thunder?
Hey beauties,
I’m excited to partner with CBC to celebrate the premiere of my new favourite TV series – 21 Thunder! Unlike any show before, I connected with practically ALL of the characters that you’ll meet in this show (especially Christy Cook) and I hope you will too! :) Watching this show really got me thinking about how I started Jess Undecided and how I found my THUNDER …
... I’ll let you in on a little secret - the blog name Jess Undecided didn’t just come from me being unable to “decide” on a name :p!
I’ve always been indecisive with what I wanted to do with my life. From a young age, I was an “artistic athlete” – see? Even little me couldn’t decide on a hobby… my parents had signed me up for music classes for 3 different instruments and signed me up for 3 different sports. I’m convinced I was destined to be “Undecided”!
And then I finally thought I had decided I wanted to be a doctor when I left for university, but little did I know that life had something else in store for me.
Fast forward a couple years … Jess Undecided, which started almost 3 years ago now, has allowed me to experience the joys and struggles of being a freelancer / entrepreneur. There are days when I wake up feeling overcome by fear that I have chosen the wrong career path, but once I pick up my phone to post my Instagram post + blog post for the day I am quickly reminded that all the uncertainty and ambiguity is worth doing what I truly love. So trust me when I say, I know and understand how hard it is to find your personal motivation to do what you truly want when it seems like all odds are against you.
This year I’ve finally began to be comfortable in my own skin + to trust my decision to pursue my own passions. Don’t get me wrong, I still come face-to-face with that monster called self-doubt, but I’ve learned how to keep those encounters infrequent + less debilitating.
My constant battle with my inner self critic is what made me fall so in love and connect so deeply with the characters of 21 Thunder.
I originally felt the deepest connection with Christy Cook not only because she was the main female in the show (and I’m all about #GirlPower), but because I was SO frustrated that Coach Rocas was underestimating her talents due to the fact that she was a female coach. He didn’t even try to learn more about her and what she had to deal with personally, either.
* Something I’ve learned while being in this industry is that social media can be so misleading. Sure, my Instagram pictures and blog posts might make it seem like I live a carefree, even luxurious, life, but most of the time it’s only a small fraction of my story that I’m sharing – and it’s really important to remember that from time to time. Everyone goes through those bummy times.
Anyways, the more I watched the show, the more I realized I could relate to every one of the characters, which I find so rare in a TV show.
I feel like I can relate to them all because they all have something to prove. Like me, and probably all of you reading this, they all have a THUNDER in them that pushes them to fight harder for what they want. Coach Rocas is trying to prove himself as the new coach and prove the circulating rumors about him wrong. Stefan is trying to prove himself as one of the oldest players on the team while also hiding an injury. Christy, as we already know, is trying to prove herself to be a worthy coach and gain respect in a locker room full of men. Nolan is trying to prove himself to Coach to to get playing time, and is constantly being deterred by his family and past.
But hey, I’m not going to spoil all the characters and the storyline for you – so make sure to tune in
Mondays at 9/9:30 NT on CBC.
I promise you’ll be hooked in no time.
And seriously – I really want to hear from YOU all about what motivates you? I love being inspired by your personal stories & hearing about your motivations. So please remember to share #WhatsYourThunder with me on Instagram + Twitter!

Until next time.
