Oh yes, even my hair is summer ready now!

And now I'll walk you through my whole experience at Toni + Guy because it was that amazing.

So here we goooo....

Last week I had the pleasure of visiting the Toni + Guy Salon in Yorkville for the first time. My first visit included a lovely consultation with Co-owner, Rob Pupo + a lovely colour by Ella.

Rob and I had a lovely conversation about what I was looking for in my hairstyle and he, being the genius he is, already knew what he wanted to do. I used to be extremely nervous about doing anything to my hair, but as I grow I've been wanting to be more adventurous so I was extremely excited to see what Rob had in mind. I was always envious of all those girls with wavy + tousled hair because I could never achieve that look with my stubborn straight asian hair! But low and behold, of course Rob had a solution! He explained this cutting technique that would do the trick + I was hooked.

As for the colour, I scrolled through just about a gazillion images of Aimee Song (Song of Style), Nicole Warne (Gary Pepper Girl), and just about all my asian idols who were gifted with super dark hair that annoyingly goes copper when dyed. I told Ella I wanted to do a balayage, with a nervous look on my face because even though I've dreamed about lighter hair my whole life, I am terrified of going copper/orange. Cue my obsession with the Rachel Green / Jennifer Aniston perfect honey blonde multi-dimensional hair color ... that I've accepted will not happen for me, ok?!? I know I know.

Anyways, Ella is a magician, even though I was hesitant at the end of the session that the lighter pieces were still too copper, I "lived" in the colour for the week + learned to embraced the warmer tones. Let's just say - I love love love my new colour.

Fast forward 1 week...

I came back to Toni + Guy excitedly, but also a little nervous. Nervous, because my silly sensitivities caused my ears to react to the hair dye, which led to an actual infection of my ears + lymph nodes :( So I had no idea how I was going to get my hair done with my airs being so large + in charge

Thankfully Rob's cutting skills were very gentle + my ears survived without a tickle of pain. Words cannot even describe how skillful and awe-mazing it was to watch him cut my hair. I mean, it wasn't even a crazy different cut in respect to length or shape, but it sure looks + feels positively different. I finally have that "lived-in" look + vibe I've been searching for my whole life, and usually only get after a couple months of wear. But now, I get to live it FRESH from the day of the cut!

So you bet I walked out of the salon feeling ready to take on the world!

Honestly, I've never felt good coming out of a hair appointment - I've always thought, "Ok, now let's get home + wash it, then maybe it'll feel better", but this time...it's more like "let's see how long I can go without washing my hair :)"
